The beginning
Holguin, Cuba
Pimpan was born here, in Holguín.
He later lived in Havana, where life taught him to be creative with what he had. In a world where you have to improvise, you learn to see things differently. You see possibilities where others see limitations.

The Netherlands
A new world
A different environment, different materials, new possibilities. And yet one thing remained the same: the urge to create.
The first small works of art were created from bottles and clay that had been found.
Everything that was available was used.

Spain
Space to create freely
From north to south. From Málaga to Villarrobledo, Albacete and El Campo.
Here he found what he needed: space, peace and quiet, and an abundance of materials.
Vine stumps, pallet wood, old tree stumps, olive wood – things that others wanted to throw away.
To him, it was a treasure trove.
This is where Pimpan Arte was founded.

Quite a character
Each piece is created by hand, with time, care and feeling.
Most creations exist only once.
In very exceptional circumstances, perhaps two.
But never more than that.
His uniqueness lies in his character. And in his work.

The Fenix
He created a unique Fenix for Kornet.
Shaped and finished by hand, layer by layer.
Every colour, shape and texture was created from feeling and intuition. No mould, no fixed lines, but a work of art with character and meaning.
When the artwork was presented, it came as a great surprise.
The fenix immediately took its rightful place in our home and still stands there today as a symbol of strength, growth and perseverance.
